Exclamation 79 280ZX restoration finished

Just finished my 280ZX. A 54,000 mile survivor that never had a re-paint. Rust free (rustproofed) in blue that had oxidized to dust. I'll try to attach some photos. Now that I've been all over the car can someone tell me where the 3rd. hidden storage compartment is??? Thanks!
Well I tried to upload them and it says the files are too large. If anyone wants to see them e mail me at WNUTS@comcast.net.

Welcome to the forums !!

Editing pictures down to a usable size is a pretty easy task, you can use any photo program like paint, photoshop, or Office Picture manager, edit and either resize or crop, or a combination of both to get the size and content you are looking for BMP files can be 1600x1600 and 4.29Mb, jpg is smaller still at 1600x1200 at 2.86Mb. It's a very basic way of handling pictures. If editing them is an issue for you, ill drop you an email, send me the pics and Ill post them for you.... no charge. hehe

The hidden compartments are the Tire well, the storage cubby behind the seats and I believe on the drivers side rear quarter panel is a small cover you can remove. I know my Z31 has that extra little door. Mine is hidden even further since my custom sub en-closer covers it.

I have an original sales brochure and it says that there is a 3rd. secret storage compartment but they aren't going to give it away in the sales brochure. It has to be an easy to access compartment. Any ideas?

Just got these in my mail from JanS, this is a real beautiful Car, it looks pristine, like it just rolled off the boat, OMG talk about instant wood

Wow JanS congrats on the car it's a real find, I bet you get some heads turning driving her. Love the color too. Pennsylvania Antique Historic car indeed, it deserves to be in the Smithsonian. A real museum piece, frankly I'd be a bit scared to kill a bug with it and possibly chip the paint. OK time to quit drooling and put my pants back on

Hi res desktops

Thanks again for the Hi-res pictures of your Car, they immediately went into my Zcar desktop pics rotation ! If you use a 1080p screen, I edited these to fit perfectly.

Re: Z

Thanks for posting the pictures! Great, fun car to drive. I spend the warm months here going to the local car shows. I've been doing it since 04. I can honestly say that I've only seen one Z in all that time. It was a 240 with a 350 small block. So this one should get some attention. I have 2 antique cars. One for the local shows and something good on gas to go to the out of town ones. Before the Z I had a 71 Austin Mini Cooper (the real Mini). My other car is an all original, matching #'s with the build sheet 71 Chevelle 454 SS 4 speed in triple black with white stripes. It gets 8 mpg!
Has anyone found the secret compartment yet???

What is the third storage compartment? There's the glove box, two bins behind the seat and the locking box on the driver side rear quarter panel. Don't know of any "hidden" ones and I've taken a couple of cars apart

What locking box on the drivers side rear quarter? All I have is a pull out bin but it doesn't lock. In my deler sales brochure it says there is a secret third bin. Maybe this is it?
I thought they all had the roof band on them? No spare band, sorry. I have 2 parking light assemblies and a set of inner sill plates in blue I don't need if someone does.

roof band

Ya, your Z is pretty special, that roof band was a very rare option. Never seen on before, only mention of it. Do me a favor and snap some views from above of the band if you can. I'd like to get a full view if possible, for historic reasons.

roof band pictures

Here are a few more pictures. It's a grand luxury model. I looked in the sales brochure and there is no mention of this band as an option. Note the photo of the one page mentioning the secret compartment.

They failed to mention it any where... it's under nissan part # 99990-0678 Roof Band.
I used to have several but now I am looking for one to put it on my restored 280ZXT.

Beautiful!

What a great looking ZX. Yours is similar in color to mine, which is also a 1979. If you didn't go back very far in the forum and see them already, you might want to check out the pics of my 79 ZX.

I have a locking box at my rear drivers quarter, also. The little bin inside can pull out. Is it possible that your door to it is missing?

Very nice looking Z and a great two tone paint job. Looks like my cars twin, color and interior.

Maybe they are talking about the area between the seat and the center console. I think its a gateway to a parallel dimension. Sucks ATM cards loose bills and french fries into . my 79 had an original in wrapper VHS tape of Highlander and a box of condoms with a sell by date of 11/84 all under the seat. Plus really cool motel key from a best western Daytona beach fl . These cars are also a cool time cap of the 80s.

I've got one with the rubber. Haven't come across the mounting clips for it though....
