weld the LSD? wtf?

cam will do you no good

clutch is a good idea, stage 1 is basically stock though (what I've got) Stage 2 is a way better idea

knuckle arms, I'm assuming shorter ones? yeah that doesn't work without a shitload more mods to the control arms and shit, stock angle is fine for getting sideways.

guys get off his case about needing MOAR POWAR to drift (for instance, AE86 Corollas, like 85whp MAX yet there's people sliding them all over the place, and very well at that.)

welling the diff is the poor mans way to keep the rear end locked... as far as everything else, im still learning about datsuns, i used to drift a miata so im using my info off what i did to the miata and applying it to my 280.

Why a 280zx for drift? Yeah it may look cool but its gonna cost you waaaaay more than most options out there.
zx for street fun and auto-x is ok.
If your gonna build a drift beater there are a MILLION 240sx's out there with a million low cost parts.
Why not save some money and beat the shit out of one of those than a Z?

it costs what, $50 to weld a diff? that's all you really need to slide...

anything else is just to help it slide better.

But... some things that will make life easier:
-LSD
-Coilovers
-More hp than your stock 120.
-Lots of $Money$

i can't agree that you focus on power. For drifting you need good suspension, tires, and LSD.

Im putting a 4 barrel supercharged 350 5 speed in my 79' 280zx and need more braking power what Toyota has those 4 piston calipers and is it a pain in the ass to do the swap?

FricFrac 10-13-2011 05:44 PM

Simple - pads.

Don't forget to swap in a CVT rear end....
