won't start
I need help on a 1979 zx that won't start. I have 40# fuel pressure (checked after changing fuel filter). I have spark (my hands sting tingling), I have compression and it's in time, I think. I checked to see if #1 piston was on top when distributor was on #1 plug. I also checked to make sure the injectors had juice to them with a test light. Everything seems to check out, but when I crank it over it just won't start. I keep thinking it has to be fuel related, but I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Any help would be appreciated.

After cranking it over for a while with no starting, pull out a spark plug to see if it has fuel on it. If you can't really tell, put in one brand new spark plug; crank the engine a while, then take the new one out and see what it looks like. That'll let you know if you actually have fuel inside the engine.
Do a valve clearance, and then do a compression test. |
Also to test for lack of fuel...pull off a vacuum line and spray in some starting fluid and see if it tries to start.

try putting some starter fluid in it. that may just give it the go it needs to turn over. have you recently disasembled the block?
|
Give some info about the car right up to it not running. have you thought about the the air flow meter? This could make it not run! fuel lines reversed?

look at the connector @ the distributor
when i first bought mine it was in a box for 3 years and the connector being bad at the distributor was a small fish to me,try inspecting the connecters,i had to replace mine with female speaker spades and used the factory wheather boot. it's worth a shot.:D

I had the same problem with the connector to the distributer. Once I replaced that it was perfect.

check your connector@ block temp sens.
if you have a bad connection at the block temp sensor(or it's bad)
it won't start either. i had this problem on mine.:) |
