Will not go above 1,000 RPM!

car will start, but won't go above 1,000 rpm with pedal pushed to the floor and as soon as you let off the pedal it dies. So far I have tested the fuel pump(looks good). The car seems like its getting too much gas, I think it might be the pressure regulator. Any other ideas?

Could be due to vacuum leaks. Might be good to follow all the lines and replace any worn hoses. Check the rubber pipe that connects from the AFM to the throttle body, it could have cracks in it.

Check to see that your head temp and block temp sensor are both still plugged in. Check the connection on the air flow meter. Make sure that is plugged in. It sounds like something that is compeltely unplugged.
Could definitely be a bad AFM. My '80 ZX had the same symptom when the AFM died.
