Where to find BW tranny
Hey so i found out that my transmission is bad. And i figured that since it will be too expensive to rebuild the tranny, i might as well go with some performance tranny. Well what 280zx had the tranny? What year? Where can i pick one up and how much do they run?
Thanx for whatever info you can give. Im not to happy right now.

How much do you think it will cost to rebuild your tranny?

Who might I ask have you been 'working' with?
For that money, you could have shipped it to Kim Blough in Idaho and had the return shipping pre-paid with change.

Seen as we are discusing cogs, I am planing to get a kit to transplant a v8 [hopfully an alloy one] into the rust bucket.
To the point, Ive had a lot of 6 speeders and im a bit bored with shifting cogs, and as an auto, the one thats in my 280 doesnt seem a bad means of going forward. I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the strenght of the 3 speed auto that comes free with the rust?

If you're getting a V8, I don't think you're supposed to/able to use the original Datsun transmission anymore. Many V8's here in the US are commonly used with 4spd automatics made to work for that particular engine.

You're best bet is to get an appropriate ford or chevy automatic that goes with that engine and have some minor modifications made to the drive shaft so it'll mate up to the new tranny and the ZX diff.

the mustang t5 and the Z t5 are diffrent.. the bell housing and more importantly the pilot shaft or what ever its called.. even if you changed the bell housing it still wont lign up...
