This is taking up space..What does it do and can I do without it?? thanks in advance,

Where is it located? And what year Z do you have? I don't recognize it at the moment.
|
I was wondering the same thing! :D
I think it connects vaccume lines to the cruise control. If that's all it is then you can rip it out along with the cruise. |

Yeah it's for Cruise, AC, and Heating control. My ac wan't charged and I don't need no stinking cruise control, So I ripped mine out (AC too). Looks alot cleaner without it. My heater don't work anyways, so I don't know how it will affect that. All it does is store vaccum to control vaccum operated acc. when the engine isn't producing any vaccum like when you mash the throttle.

I ripped it out though it wieghed a total of 85lbs. :D ruining a classic is what my dad said.

The car phone was probably not a factory Nissan product. It might have been an option at a certain dealership though.

No 280ZX's came from the factory with a phone. That was an aftermarket installation. Yes, I remember those phones. That phone you tossed probably cost $2500 when it was new! And that's in '80s $$$ too.
|
And gained a little extra elbow room when you're wrenching away too.

For the high rollers baby.
|
hey does anyone know about my question if you can remove that thing and still have a heater?
|
Your heater will still work. Anything that's controled by vaccum won't work though. But mine was blowing fine, I just don't have any ducting and my fan only blows when it feels like it, so don't ever use mine. I don't know if the vents are controlled mechanically or by vacuum though. Somebody else might be able to help you there.
But the answer to your question is yes, it will still work. I wouldn't count on the ac though. |
didint sombody say that thing stores vaccum so when not making any in the manifold your contorls still work...so at idle when its making vaccum it should work...controls are vaccum operated btw...i took mine off and threw it out...dun matter to me much
|
Yeah it's used to store vaccum.
