turbo on NA engine
Hi, I'm considering the buy of a 280zx turbo, but since i'm from Portugal they don't fall from the trees so all I got was a 280zx NA. I was wondering what diferences are there in both cars. Is it only the engine? Or the brakes, susp, etc is different?
Also I would like for you guys to tell me what I have to do to implement the turbo on this engine. Decompressing, etc, what turbo suits it best also cause I would like to push the bar up to 300hp @ stage one, and then up to 450/500hp. Is the tranny different, etc. Also, are there diferences in speedometer?
Thanks!
PS: I also got my eye on a 280zx turbo but since it is spanish and I don't want to pay the tax fees, I would like to know what figures are we talking about just for the engine build. Cause I can get my hands on that one for about $1500.
PS2: soz for my english, eheheh.

In order to make that kind of power for more than about 10 seconds, you're going to have to do a hell of a lot more than just bolt on a bigger turbo.
Check out the following link from a guy who's approaching the 600hp mark in his turbo ZX. This guy is moderately famous in the ZX community here in the states.

In short, you'll need a new fuel system, new ECU, new pistons, new rods, new intake, new turbo, a huge intercooler, a large radiator, new exhaust, new transmission, new clutch, new drive shaft, new differential and new CV half-shafts.
Not counting his personal time, I believe he estimated he's got $40,000 US in this project and about 3 years of his life. Without that kind of dedication and $$ you'll fall far short of your target 500hp.
