I was wondering what boot between the 60mm throttle and air flow meter did you guys use? Was it the stock one? or the 240SX one? or another type, I'm stuck at this step and need help. Thanks.

SHADY.... Where's your famous pic? |
So which boot do I use? Will the stock boot fit over the 60mm because it's a long stretch from 40mm to 60mm?

Get ya engineering skills goin... Shady just got a 3" mandrel bend & used silicone couplers. I'll PM him to post a pic of it. |
Then you have the 1992 stanza 60mm throttle body.

o.k so im a little behind sorry guys the first ones are of the 60mm tb with turbo afm and the ones with the black coupler are for the stock afm. the black tubing is the intake hose from a turbo z, cut to fit.

hope those help, i should really do an article bout this setup and what sizes and what to cut/ so on so fourth. any q's just ask here

I knew you could make your own tubing, but what do I do with those hoses that are connected to the stock boot?

My 81 had two hoses protruding from that boot. One was the breather hose to the valve cover and the other was the air regulator hose. And this hose can't be re routed to the adapter cause the air regulator hose from the boot went to the rear of the air regulator (toward the firewall). The front end of the regulator is what would go to the adapter.
|
And when I had my 60mm TB I simply eliminated the air regulator all together. i just raised the idle speed a little bit to about 1000rpm so that when the car was cold started it wasn't too bad. I also eliminated the cold start valve to compensate for the removal of the air regulator. From there the breather tube can be replaced with a breather filter on the valve cover.
|
Thanks that helps a lot. I know I just had no idea what to do with those hoses coming out of the boot.http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...59_22_full.jpg

I don't know if you can see it but look on the bottom right at the boot and there is one of the hoses. Thanks.
|
sorry lower left.
|
yeah the lower hose in that pic is the one to the air regulator. The upper hose in the pic goes to the valve cover (breather hose).
Shady, that appears to be the 280zx TB in your pics  The type that came with both air regulator hose provisions (unlike Nemesis's TB) and had the idle screw incorporated. |
huh? what? its the same as a 79's tb, i got the one from msa. and i also disconnected my air bypass, and unpluged my cold start valve. i want them back thou, the air bypass raises the idle for the ac system, didnt know that till it was gone
|
Oh, so you've got the MSA 60mm? That explains it. I just noticed it didn't look like the 240sx TB.
|
too much work doing it that way
