Stock Tach Help
Stock Tach Help
Fellow Z Buffs. I am in the process of installing aftermarket engine management, still using the stock distributor.
For some reason, the tach in the dash is not working. Is there a wire I need to connect? Is there a wire I need to tap into? Do I have to tap into the distributor? Which wire from the harness do I need to look for and make sure it's connected to where?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I would like to keep the factory tach working versus going to an afterrmarket tach. Is there a way to go into the harness of either the distributor or somewhere within another harness to send a signal to the tach? Is there a fuse or relay I should be checking? There's got to be something to look for.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
There probably is, but I really dont know where to look. I know people who have had the factory tachometer reconfigured for their V8 swap so it is possible to makes changes to or modify the signal. sorry I'm no help....
Tach Help
Hi,
Someone had mentioned that since I am using an MSD ignition amp, that there is a tach output on the amp itself and there would have to be an adapter used to send the signal to the stock tach.
Would you happen to know which wire in the harness or to the tach I should connect too?
Thanks..
