Ok first off, wow no video skillz.

Second the marks should line up. the one on the plate with the center of the other.

Third, yes it will advance when you rev it. Beauty of computer controlled ignition. For what its worth.

Make sure you are at proper idle when you time it also. Then go buy a haynes manual so you don't have to ask stupid questions and make us watch crappy video.

EDIT: I just realized that was kinda harsh. I got low blood sugar.

ok so your timing light has advance on it. So if you set your light to say 20degrees before tdc and your car is timed right it will show up right at the zero. Then if you set your light to say 0 the marks will be at the 20. Make sense? It is to make life easier. I`m going fishing now. Be back tuesday or sunday. whenever i feel like it.

the marks will align at zero if you set the gun to 20 degree. Also is that what the n/a is supposed to be set at? I was just using that as an example.

The n/a motor should be set @ 8 degrees stock. 20-24 degrees for the turbo motor.

To set the timing properly on an n/a you need to disconnect the vacuum advance on the distributor. Then, set timing to 8 degrees & lock down the 10mm distrib bolts. You are done.

The bolt for tightening down the dizzy broke on me before anything else. I've learned my lesson, if the bolts are relatively small I hand tighten them with a screwdriver, and use one hand. Or in the case of the distributor adjustment bolts, I tighten them until there's resistance and the distributor won't move, and then maybe a quarter to half turn more. You must have tightened the crap out of it like nismo said, and that was probably holding it together.

thanks duowing.. i had to make a metal bracket, drill a hole in it and use jbweld to secrue it and it feels solid... solid enough that i dont have to start looking for a new dizzy...

ok for the last time i

#1 warm the car to Normal operating temp
#2 take the vacuum advance off the dizzy(do i clog the hole or leave it open?)
#3 set my light to 8 deg.
#4 match up the marks
#5 tighten the bolt on the dizzy(ever so cautiously)
#6 put the vacuum advance back on
#7 hope my jbweld repair dosent break

sound right?

i wouldnt worry about your jb weld breaking, theres hardly any force when the car is running that would move your distributer.

the bolt head was super glued on mine and when i went to losen it with a nut driver it just popped off, i havent done any thing about it and it doesent move from where i have it set

You really need to go here: http://www.xenons130.com/ and download the FSM he has for reference purposes. You will save yourself a whole lot of trouble.

0. if your light is set at 8, the mark on the crank should match up with 0 on the little bracket gauge thing

on the crank pully theres a slot in the outer rim, mark that with white out. then find the little guage on the block of the Z right abouve the crank pulley on the passneger side and it will have a 0* 10* and 20* marks with ticks inbetween them i believe. mark the 0* with white out and the 8* with white out (just in case) then match up the flashing white mark on the crank with the white mark on the guage at the 0* tick AFTER you unplug the VAC advance and set the gun to 8* or if you leave the gun set at 0* line teh flashing whit mark on the pulley with the 8* mark on the guage you marked white. then CAREFULLY seat the bolts so the dizy doesnt move then re-check the timing. mark sure the car is idling at the right speed also. ok tard?

also that piece you broke off is just a base mount, its completly replaceable on the NA motor since the NA dizzy's have that little spacer between them and the block itself. so you didnt have to JB weld it i probably coulda sold you a replacement one lol
