Sensor Light

OK, all you folx who know the answer to this one, please share it with some of us who don't.

There is a sensor light on the dash for the O2 sensor. If you disconnect the O2 sensor wire from the sensor, the light lights up and stays lit, even after replacing the sensor, until you do something to extinguish the light.

What is it that you're supposed to do (short of removing the bulb)?

I'll explain why I need to know after someone answers correctly.

All that light there was for was in the very beginning of the car's life for dealership service. It was supposed to light up at 30K and then you go to the dealer to get the O2 sensor inspected. After that, it's turned off and you never worry about that light again. The replacement and inspection of the O2 sensor is up to the owner now. It's basically a dummy light with no purpose except that one time.

AS lifegrddude replied it is a one time light, under the right side of the dash there should be a green and yellow striped wire on the outside of a bundle of wires disconnect that wire that is what you needed to know. did you connect it while replacing the dash? and why did you need to know this?

is there any other way to reset the lite? on modern cars it's usually some trick w/ the ignition key & a button on the dash

Nope, no other way. Its just as Justiceboy and Lifegrdude said....a one time dummy lite that is set to go off at 30k to get you back in the dealership to have the O2 checked and/or replaced. If I remember right the wire is located just under the glove box and in front of the heater fan.
