Hi I have a 1983 280zx Turbo and the car starts up no problem and idles great for about a minute but then it begins surging between 200 to 700 rpm till it stalls in about 3 minutes, but if I unplug the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator the engine idles perfect at 700 rpm and revs up with no issues at all. The car hasn't run in about 20 years so im assuming that the regulator is corroded or gummed up but im just wondering if anyone has dealt with this before or thinks it could be something else.
Thanks,
I also have a 83 280zxt, with a possible bad fuel pressure regulator. The biggest problem is finding a replacement. I looking at buying this one as it's only $13.65 on ebay and I think it should work. I was having the same problem until now it won't start. It's a Standard PR2.
