Possible Transmission Rebuild

Need some more advanced ZX opinions. I'm rebuilding my '80 280ZX Coupe. While driving it I've noticed when IN gear theres a good 1/2 inch of play on the gear shift and it feels VERY loose while shifting. Also while in neutral and idling it feels very sloppy. Planning on rebuilding the transmission at this point. But wanted to get some feedback on how the 280ZX transmission is supposed to preform. Seeing if maybe I don't have to do a TOTAL rebuild.

Its just the shifter bushings. You can get new plastic ones or do the dodge door hinge mod.

Yup and you can also shim the sides of the bushings with some thin teflon shims to take more of the slop out.
