no cat
Yeah, my '79 has no cat either. Apearantly a few early '79s came catless. I had asked the guys at Motorsport about it when i was ordering my exhaust, the said they had never heard of a catless 79. But according to the haynes manual, they do exist, an i got one. On that note, i am curious exactly which car Nissan tested to get the 135 net horsepower from (what options they had on them, etc.). My car has no A/C, no power stearing, and no cat, so assuming that the model that was tested had all these things, id like to assume my car has a few extra horsepower than the official 135. I guess theres one way to prove that one.

Yea, My Haynes manual said the same. I think there is also a thing on the engine compartment that said "No Catalyst". I also have no A/C, power steering, or cat, so I'd like to know what the true numbers are. Remember though...RWHP, not gross/crank. Thats why I roll my eyes at the people who say it has less than other models..it doesn't, its just rated differently.

yup larger pistons..though you could get it bored out a little more and just use oversize rings..but it wouldnt be worth imo..
you got two things..
stroke and bore..
stroke is how far the piston moves from BDC (bottom dead centre) to TDC (top dead centre)
and the bore is how big the cylinder is in diameter..the bigger it is the more displacment you got same as the stroke the longer the stroke the larger the displacement..
