Need Some Help Please!!

am new to this(280zxt not HIGH performance) and need some info on the following using the stock engine and turbo. the car is a 5-speed with 140k miles.

stock motor(how far can i go)
fuel pump upgrade
ignition upgrade
turbo(how far can i go)
intercooler
exhaust upgrade
waste gate
boost controller
tires and wheels
also NOS or NX kits (dry vs wet) 50 to 100 shot

I am looking for a mid to low 13s on just turbo and possible low 12s on NOS/NX

i am a streetracer and need a quiet but fast Z

all help is welcome

streetracing ain't fun unless you make money doing it

Street Racing Is Not Fun Or Cool. Take It To The Track. I Am An Ex-street Racer. I Had My Cars Towed 5 Times And Got A Ton Of Tickets. It Got So Bad That Even If My Car Was Parked Any Where Near The Races And The Cops Came I Knew I Was Getting Questioned Or Ticketed. Save Yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

where i am from in NC we do both track and streetracing mainly because tracks are so far away. i know people who have been killed streetracing and at the track and coming home from work so i guess i should not street race, got to the track or go to work. if you are not a streetracer that is fine but where i am from streetracing and track(grudge) racing sometimes pays for our hobby: fast cars

besides my post was about how make a 280ZXT faster and that is all

stock motor(how far can i go)I would stop at 15 psi
fuel pump upgradewalbro would be good to check on that one
ignition upgrademsd
turbo(how far can i go)u have to use a diferent flange for a bigger turbo, the stock one won't do too much more than 15 psi if your lucky
intercoolerfluidyne FMIC
exhaust upgrade2.75'' from the downpipe back
waste gate HKS makes a good one(or two)
boost controllerelectronic or manual?
tires and wheels18" rims max and your choice of rubber but definately "Z" rated
also NOS or NX kits (dry vs wet) 50 to 100 shotIcan't help you on that one,I like my cars too much

10 psi of boost is max without an intercooler, you can get the I/C kits or make your own, how fast you are depends on how light you are, my 240zt runs low 13's, at 8psi and stock everythign but FPR bigger fuel pump and a boost controller
as far as the upgrades everythign kinda runs out of steam at the same point, arouund 18hp or there about, at that point, you need to look at bigger fuel pump, (I have an MSD inline pump works fine), adjustable boost referenced fuel pressure regulator (I have an aeromotive), you'll need bigger injectors and a larger turbo along with an I/C, and then you'll need a stand alone managment system or at least the Z31 ECU swap, all that should get you at a bit over 400 hp to the wheels
as for the nitrous, it's kinda dangerous with a turbo motor, if you do it I recomend a multiport wet kit, but for the cost of the wet multi kit you could have the T04E 50 trim

1st. There is nothing wrong with a set of 18" wheels,if they're good enough for a race grade skyline then they're good enough for me too.

2nd. A good sound system will increase the joy factor of my car way more than a few milliseconds shaved off my time at the track.

3rd. Funny lights aren't my thing but I don't have anything against it if its done right.

4th. My baby is wingless and won't need one until I find a road that I can drive 180mph for a sustained period of time without someone with red and blue colored lights following me. (And even then it would have to be something adjustable and removeable)

It all depends on what the driver wants,oh and all our cars are rice since they are all Japanese.

Yep,I like those too.

(But with a switch pin design so I can alternate between vertical and horizontal, plus it makes it easier in some places for me to get out.)

What's up with the stupid "rice" comments guys? 18" wheels are not rice, and they don't automatically go with an oversized spoiler and neons. I never heard anyone calling Ice's car rice. Most people say its the best looking 280ZX they've seen. He's got 17" wheels and the factory style ZXR spoiler. Are 17" wheel ok, but 18 isn't? (in your opinion) Do you actually think your non-turbo 280zx is so fast that you're too good for a sound system?

If someone wants to go overboard on speakers, then let them. That's their thing. If some other guy wants to spend $10,000 on a turbo engine and strip out his interrior, that's fine. Its not your car. And not everything that you don't approve of is called RICE! Stop using that word when you have no clue what it entails. Realistically, the fact that we all drive Japanese cars puts us in Rice category. Every car enthusiast group has their own definition of rice, and I guarantee several groups would call each and every one of our cars rice for one reason or another.... just like the Honda forums tell each other that they are not Rice because their double-deck spoiler is only 12" tall, and Rice is spoilers that are over 15" tall. ect, ect...

I plan to do several modifications with moderation. A single 12" sub in a sealed box weighs probably 25 pounds. 100 pounds is worth a tenth of a second. So if I put a sub in my car I'll be 0.025 seconds slower in the quarter mile. That'll just kill my performance while I'm stuck in traffic going 30mph on the freeway...

I don't even think my car is that fast and I'm not gonna care if I do lose 0.2 seconds in the quarter mile if I've got better looking wheels. Oh no, I'm only running a 16.4 instead of 16.2 like I used to get with my factory 14" wheels!

Maybe the term rice means different things to different people. To me and most the people I know it just means a car that is too over the top, to ugly. 18' s with double deck spoilers and all the perforfamce stickers on the doors with a body kit and neons with projector lights and the 10,000 watt stereo with strobes and dvd players and t.v.s with the lambo door kit and the intake that looks like an intercooler and don't forget the carbon fiber hood and fiberglass fenders with the lexan hatch is in my and most peoples opinions bad taste or rice. Now if you look at Ice's car it is clean and simple not all rice'd out. I seen the pictures you posted of your car Bleach. Your car would probably look very nice with a set of 18's, just just go overboard with the chrome, and like the post above, Relax, whoa, Sorry, if I offended you.

Exactly! I mention I want 18" wheels and people start saying I should add spoilers and bring up the "rice" terminology. That's just BS.

Actually, I had the chrome idea already. I plan to get rid of all of it. I gave my car a paint job and left most everything else stock. When I repaint I'm gonna black out all the window chrome and get rid of the door trim pieces so its more clean. No rear spoiler either. The one showy piece I'll have are the wheels. But first, I'm going to go get some donuts and calm down...
