Gas Tank with rust

If you have a gas tank with rust (I cleaned the tank out as the gas had sat for about 3 yrs) is it possible to use it still? I am wondering if it will continue to rust if gas is in the tank? I have found a vender called Resto Motive Labs Inc which sells a rust treatment kit, but don't know if it will work on a 280zx tank since there is a plastic box clipped in where the gas gage assemply goes into the tank. Does anybody have any experience with the above situation? Thanks

I Fixed My Tank With A Treatment Similar To That. You Can Put A Chain In It And Swoosh It Around. Then Use Sand Paper, Then Get It Boiled Out At A Rad Shop. Then Follow Manufacters Specs For The Product And Your Done. Dont Worry About The Plastic. Whatever You Do Dont Sandblast Or Kaaboom. Sandblasting Creates Sparks!! Ive Done 2 Tanks Successfully With Bill Hirsch's Miricle Gas Tank Restore. Good Luck.

trust me your gas tank couldnt of been as bad as mine there was 5 full cups worth of chunky rust inside my gas tank... no wonder why i coudlnt go past 15 mph lol never the less i did everything to clean it CLR , sand papper etc... i gave up and went to the radiator shop and had them do a ACID BATH and then double coat in inside of the tank with what i was told RED special recoat that would keep it from rusting out any more.. never the less they had to torch a small hole to let out the 2 gallons of RED STUFF... dont worry !!! i spray painted my tank a cool color before i put it back on.. =-)
