engine serial #

does anyone know where i can find serial numbers/ year ranges for l28 engines i have 3 would like to know what year they are from 2 are sitting in my garage one in my 79 280zx seems to performe better than is supose to thanks 396chevy

It would be easier to find out by finding the block casting... Like F54, N42, etc. Then you can narrow down the years it was made.

i ran across a website not too long ago that had all the vehicle makes and models sorted by vin. i used google but dont remember what i was searching for. hope that helps

nissan never organized what block serial #'s went in what cars, for instance my friend has 240z #36, it has engine #59 in it!! they just stuck them in however they ended up. and more than one car got the l6, so put the f54 block in it, with the n47/n42 or e series head, and you have some great power. if you use the p series head, the comp will be lower, with the f54 combo at least
