Cycling Rpm
I have a 1981 280ZX non-turbo. At times when I wash down my engine (covering up my distributor) with a light mist of water, the washing sometimes results in my RPM cycling when running the engine above 2300 RPM.
Condition: At 2300 RPM the engine cycles back down to idle (800 RPM) then up to 2300 RPM and back down to idle. This cycling continues as long as the engine is intended to operate above 2300 RPM but the cycling problem does not allow the engine to go above 2300 RPM. The problem goes away when the engine compartment is dry again.
Question: Any idea what component is getting water in it to cause it to cycle the engine?
Thanks, maxtorque46@***.net
