Hello,

My 82 280zx hesitates a bit in first gear, I get this rubbery feeling moving the car forward with a bit of shaking. I feel that my clutch may need to be replaced.
My question is, should I consider replacing the clutch soon or wait until it dies completely then replace it?

Rubbery feeling?

When the clutch DISC is going out, it will feel like you still have the clutch pedal half way in when you accelerate... the engine RPM's will rev, but you don't increase in speed. Is that what you mean by "rubbery feeling" ?

 

Yes, that's correct. It does accelerate but very slowly at first with a bit of hesitation.
