If you can get 650 with a SOHC, it ain't worth $10K. Then you gotta figure every part for that head is specific to just that head. Probably real expensive to replace anything that goes bad.

The guys on hybridz said O.S. Giken head doesn't even flow much better than the P90. It also has to be shipped from Japan and costs ten grand on top of that. Not worth it at all. But, there is a guy on hybridz that is making a DOHC head for the L28 out of two 240SX heads.

Yeah I honestly dont know if it is worth it because I think he said it would run about 5000.00 for the head not to mention the custom CAM you would have to make.. SOHC is good for me there are still very high HP numbers out there on the SOHC.

Is he making a complete head, with all the valve train installed and everything? Or just the head itself? $5000 ain't that bad if it's a complete head and uses 240 parts and flows considerably better than than any of the SOHC heads. Plus you get the tunability of a dual cam.

You can better fine tune with a DOHC because you can control the intake and exhaust timing independently. You're limited to the overlap thats ground into the cam on SOHC motors.

Of course that head would be more of a statement of individuality rather than actual functionality, as most Z's wouldn't even utilize the full potential of a Head like that or the O.S. Giken.

If you think about it, it's like having a stroked RB26 in you're car with DOHC. Now how much would an RB be plus those stroker kits are up there in the $10-$15K price range. Parts are rediculously expensive too on the RB.

You got a point ther But I do not think it is a complete head.. Plus you gotta think about the water jackets and oil passages that have to be welded some how in the head??

If it were me, and I had $5000 to spend, I'd port the head, and have several different cams ground for race-day. Upping the boost and revving higher? High-lift and overlap cam, right there. Going to pull a friend's 240SX out of the bushes after a hard mountain jaunt? Just slap that Torque-monster cam on there ... low and flat, baby.

You talk about swapping cams like it takes 5 minutes hahaha. That would be cool though.

I can rebuild the 13B in my FC in about two hours ... not hard though, considering there's only 3 moving parts.

I want to become very familiar with L-series engines, so I can build them as such. Much like Bleach - after all, he is the "L-Series Surgeon" ... haha.

It took me two hours just to get the damn intake and exhaust manifolds off. Hate that setup. Why couldn't they just have put a crossflow head on there to begin with? Thats the only gripe I have with the L28, not so much that it's SOHC, but that it ain't crossflow.
