'82 Cuts out randomly, tach is jumping
And when I say it cuts out, the engine loses all power for a split second, enough to make the car lurch HARD, then it continues to run again. At various levels of throttle, the tach jumps up.
Sometimes when i put my foot back on the gas after a shift, sometimes around 1/3 to 2/3 of throttle when i am applying or letting off. Tested a few things, checked my connections, and i disconnected the TPS for a 4 mile drive to see if there was any change in the symptoms, which there weren't.
This has been going on for a month or so, and i can't seem to figure it out. ICM was replaced last December (Most recent repair).
Any ideas?

Same issue
I just recently bought a 1980 280zx. Car drove beautifully the hour ride home. Next few times very hard starts and some straight up dying and not starting back up in traffic. Ended up being the electronic ignition timing. There is a 2 wire connection to the distributor that didn’t look bad but had a friend try starting it when I wiggled it and ta da started every time I held the wire in place. I cut the ends and put new speaker or flat wire connectors on and heat shrink them. No problems for the last 2 weeks.
