82 280zx auto trans fluid filter.

hi i just bought a 280 at a lien sale for $100 its silver and black. its pretty nice and i decided to start fixing it up (the engine runs good but tranny is questionable. anywayz my question is- is the automatic transmission filter the little cylinder- accumulator looking thing in the engine bay mounted on the right fender wall? i see the lines coming in to it- looks like they are from the trans. and the ones coming out go to the oil cooler? anyways i would appreciate some help i already ordered the repair manual but it doesnt get here until a couple of weeks. i already took the pan out and it doesnt look so good! ( the fluid is black-smells burnt, sludge, plus some shavings(sand like) before i go looking for another trans, im just gonna put some new fluid and filter and see if it runs better. the fluid in there didnt seem to tranfer the power throught the torque converter to well. maybe with a flush and new fluid it will be better ( i hope) if not where are the best places to get used parts? pick and pulls? im in the bay area - san jose- so if anyone know a good wrecking yard with Z parts let me know please. thanks

OPPS i put this in the wrong place! should be in the general section does anyone know how too move it? thanks
