280ZX charcoal canister -drain?

Hi,

Just bought a nice 280ZX, 1979. Finishing tune up and notice there is a large 3/4" drain hose at the bottom of the charcoal canister. Not sure what it is for. Have any one seen this on their Zs?

Also, car runs fine but there is a tic tic tic sound coming from the front of engine where the chain is. I read somewhere in this forum it has to do with leaks in the exhaust manifold? Any other causes? Chain tensioner?

Thanks in Advance.

Welcome! The ticking could be an exhaust leak, but I suggest you pull of the valve cover and check the valve lash. When the rocker arm to cam lobe clearance is too much it produces a noisy ticking click clattering. While you have the cover off check for slack in the chain
