280ZX air injection tube?

Hello guys, I have had a 280ZX for a year now as my daily. I am currently changing out the intake/exhaust gasket but I noticed there is a pipe that goes from the exhaust manifold to the intake, I think it is for the air injection that it has. It has a hole in it, I want to get my car back up and running, can I just plug the manifold and intake and remove the pipe without issues? Sorry but I am new to Z's but I look up as much as I can. Thanks for any input

It's the EGR system (exhaust gas recirculation). You can remove / plug it... as long as your state smog ****'s don't care.

Sweet, they don't smog test my car in my area so I guess I'm good with plugging it. Thanks Nismopick!
