What tires to get for an '82 turbo
What tires to get for an '82 turbo
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum, and I hope someone can give me good advice.
I have just purchased an '82 turbo automatic and it needs new tires all around. I want something that looks sharp and will give good handling, but I don't want anything extreme or that requires modification from stock. I have the 'swastika' wheels. I'd like to keep the price under $125 per tire. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am running 235 60 r14's on my '82 nonturbo with the stock 6-spoke wheels. It all depends on how much meat you want. I like the way mine are set up. I don't know how much more 15's are. I haven't ever bought any for my '81 yet. I just kept getting used tires.
In the factory size (205/60/15) you have a lot of options. From TireRack.com alone, there are 35 tires that meet your stated criteria and are less than $107 each.

If you want to go up a size (215/60/15) you still have a lot to choose from with 22 tires under $122:

Read the reviews and figure out what you're willing to deal with. Lower traction for quitier road noise or cheaper price.
How big do you want to go on your wheels?
I'm running 225/50/15 Hoosier competition tires on a set of swastika's for autoX and a set of 205/60/15 BFGoodrich Touring T/A's on my street wheels. I have a set of 225/45/16 Hoosier's on the front and 245/45/16's on the rear for track days.
I think I have 8 sets of wheels now...
It really depends on what you want to do with your tires and what kind of styling and ride you expect.
I've driven a lot of street performance tires and have opinions on the various manufacturers and model's out there.
