Tokico strut cartridge won't fit, please help

I have a 83' 280zx turbo. I am trying to replace my front struts. I have already taken off the strut assembly and pulled the old strut out. The new struts, which are Tokico, are too long or something and they won't fit so the gland nut won't screw back on. I read the other froums and they didn't help. Did I get the wrong struts? Please help.

You might have. Did you get struts for the 79-81 280ZX? I think the front ones are different in 82-83 but the rear struts interchange for all years 79-83.

are you tryin to reuse the original gland nut. cause there should be a new one that came with the strut and you need to use that one. If you have standard blue tokicos the part # should be HZ3038 for the front. And if you have Illumina adjustables the part # should be BZ3038.
