Well my stock shocks and struts on my 82 280zx are shot, i bought the car from an old man that never broke 35mph but now when i blast around a corner she sways back and forth so much i think im on an old pirate ship. Im looking at getting the Tokico HP Blue package off ebay for 330 with free shipping, but The guy that sells them wont email me back, Are they pre assembled or am I going to need to get a spring compressor? Thanks guys

ebay tokico hp

Well, thats where I got mine. Same price, the cheapest I found. Yes you need a strut spring compressor, not a coil spring compressor.
I tore a rotater cuff in my shoulder, and I had to pretty much supervise Fubar when we did mine. He had to do the more physical stuff, with help from Lee.

Maybe he will chime in? fubar?

You unbolt the fronts as an assembly. Once you get them out, you need to use a strut spring compressor

The front springs need to be compressed in order to disassemble the front struts.

You need a coupla large pipe wrenches to take the cap off the end of the tube. Then you take out the old cartridge, catching the damping oil inside the strut.
Clean out old oil and any debris in the strut tube. Pour some light oil, install gas strut assembly.
The oil you add is for heat transfer only as the Toiko is gas charged and not hydraulic. They do not come with front boots, you have to get those seperate. They are secured with zip ties top and bottom. the assembly is rotated, so the boots get kinked.

The rotors are new, just rusted before you know it. have to clean out from under fender and recoat. new brake lines, new bushings already done. Need to respray the strut where pipe wrench messed up the new paint.

I plan on changing everything not just the springs, looks like you just replaced the old springs? True?

No that is everything the HP kit comes with, it only comes with springs and dampers.

for the rear you can get away with no compressor. leave the shocks assembled in the car, and undo the center not at the top. then jack up the car and they will decommpress themselves. if installing lowering springs they do not need to be compressed as they are very short. in fact they dont compress until the car is lowered. the tokiko strut is a good choice.

Here is a shot of the rear installation. New rusted rotor, new brake lines, bushings. I really wish I had pressure washed underneth before I started this project.

The rears are easier to do.

As to the fronts, the struts are reused. You simply remove the stock contents, and replace with the Tokico insert.

The toughest part is doing the fronts.

you ain't been listening to all that has been posted. [ADD?] I got the complete kit that you are [talking about getting], and thats what it looks like installed. Perhaps you were expecting the nice powder coated blue shock you see in their picture of the product..for the front, NOT, you REUSE your strut.....the other thumnail is how they look on the rear..pretty pretty blue. My pictures are from an actual install, on my car, done mostly by fubar, front and rear of the...get ready,........TOKICO HP PREMIUM BLUE SHOCKS AND 4 HIGH PERFORMANCE TOKICO LOWERING SPRINGS!

some people just don't listen. others told you the same thing. oh, and you are welcome, thats why I posted...to try and help you....?????

the best part about the kit is the warranty! I have the same kit on my z and i hit a big pot hole one day and bent my spring perch. I called tokico about it and they replaced it with a brand new one for free, no questions asked.
