In search of some new wheels

I would like to thank you guys in advance for reading this long post and helping find some wheels.

I have been looking at my car lately and I just dont think that my 15x7 rewinds are quite what I want. One area that I am really bad in his finding the correct size and offset wheels. I get the concept of what off set is and all that but am not quite sure what I need.

To give you guys some background I'm running Tokicko springs and shocks for now. Also Im not quite sure what the widest wheel I can fit under my car is. For an idea Im looking for something that is around 8.5"-9" wide for the rear, is this way too much? I just want something that is at the least flush with the stock fenders, what size would that be. Idealy I would like them to be 16" in diameter. I was also looking at some 17" rims, will these fit alright? And for now I am running stock size brakes, how bad will this look with 17's? And if I remember correctly we have the same lug pattern as the 4 lug 240sx's?

Here are some links to some rims I was looking at.....
Is 8" wide enough?
http://www.autornd.com/catalog/produ...ae5faea2ab4c16
These might look good with the 17x7.5's up front and 8.5's in the rear? good price too.
http://www.autornd.com/catalog/produ...ae5faea2ab4c16

And of coarse my dream wheels, maybe when I win the lottery...

Its not letting post the exact link but if you translate with google translator and then go to USER PHOTOS/ then to NISSAN. There are 3 really nice S130's! Im trying to figure out what exact size wheels are on those 3 cars?

Well Id really apreciate any help and some suggestions for different wheels.

Thanks
Rob

hey ktm, looks like you want 5 spoke, good choices, if you are lowered then your wheel width goes down slightly, depends on the offset as well. my car has 9.5" wide wheels on front and rear, the are 17" and i dont know the offset, id have to measure, i fit 255/40r17 on my car, and as rod and bleach can attest to, they have 18's 245 width, sidewall ratio unknown
here are my pics of my rims, i am stock ride height, if i lower my car, the wheels will rub, thus needing flares. hope that helps

Thanks for posting the pics Ice. Those are the exact cars. I saw the tire sizes for those cars and know they are 16's, but wasnt sure what width watanabes they were.

And Shady Nice wheels! I forgot what you have for suspension right now? Im eventually going to go with coilovers but its not in the budget right, matter a fact new wheels may not be either, haha. Unless I can sell my Rewinds for a decent price.

Those 17x9.5's look good, so I think 9" wide would be perfect for me, just to be safe. Either 17's or 16's. Does anyone happen to know of any nice rims that come in 16 or 17x9?

Thanks
Rob

for your offset, just measure the stock rim, or your rewinds, it should be the right measurement, anything left on the rim goes outward, and itll be safe. from the outer lip to the inside of the mounting flange

250 a wheel isnt too bad when you compair them to the wheels i want for my 350Z..... 19" HRE or Iforged wheels for my 350Z will run me $1200 + per wheel... and thats not including the tires....

1200 a wheel!!!!

THanks for the advice Shady, Im going to go make some measurements.
But Im pretty mcuh set on these wheels- http://www.autornd.com/catalog/produ...ae5faea2ab4c16
For the 17x9s the only option for offset is 35, I hope that will work?...........
Im thinking either gold w/ polished lip or gunmetal with a polished lip?

35 mm offset, your going to need wheel adaptors... 35mm is about 1 3/8" spacing...

Off Set

Just My $.02
I'm Running 16x8" With 6 Inch Back Spacing. 205-50-16 Front, 245-50-16 Rear. I Went With 1.25" Spacers All Around.
Looking At The Car From The Rear, The Sidewalls Are Just Inside The Fender Lip, Front Tire Sidewall Is Just Inside The Fender. There Is About A Finger Width Clearance Between The Inner Sidewall And The Strut. The Rears Would Have Fit With No Issues, Plenty Of Room To Play With.
I Bought My Rims Used, $80 For All 4, Rear Tires Like New. If I Was To Buy New I Would Prob Go 9 1/2 To 10" On The Rear .

Thanks for all your advice.
Ice... Like I said if there is one area I am bad in it is choosing the right size wheels. Could you tell me exactly what kind of adaptors I would need then? Maybe a link or something, I would really apreciate.

BJ, is this on a ZX? Are saying I should really be going with 9.5" in the rear?

Again thanks to everyone, and have a happy new year.

Wheels

IT'S A MATTER OF PERSONAL CHOICE. MINE FILLS THE FENDERS OUT LIKE THE PIC OF THE BLACK ZX WITH THE GOLD WHEELS.
ALOT LIKE THE LOOK OF BIG RIMS WITH SHORT SIDEWALLS, I LIKE A FENDERWELL FULL OF RUBBER. I CAN REMEMBER WHEN AN F70-14 WAS A WIDE TIRE, A 375hp BIG BLOCK NOVA CAME WITH E70-14'S (EXTREEM PUCKER FACTOR!).
GO WITH THE COMBINATION THAT YOU LIKE, IT'S ALL GOOD!

HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY, BJ

My wheels were pretty cheap. 18x8 +38
I'm running 4 to 5 lug bolt on adaptors as the spacer. I think the wheels were about $145 each but are no longer made.

I just looked up the weight for the wheels I want, 25lbs each! I wonder what my Rewinds way? Maybe I will just get some spacers to make mine fit more flush?

not negative. Negative pushes the wheel out from center.
Stock 14x6 wheels I believe had about +10 or +12 offset. The 280ZX has deep fenders. Those must be some massively wide wheels to not fit with zero offset. I put some 9 inch wide zero offset wheels on the front of my car for a test fit. They did not rub on the inside. They just barely hit the outter fender lip with no mods.

Iv been looking into other S130 owners who have made coilovers. I think Im going to try! Seeing as I would actually like to try and drive my car this spring Im going to wait untill summer, maybe earlier. Im contacting a few companies to how much it is for a DIY kit.

Also, to save some money I wanted to use the Tockiko shocks that I have for the coilovers. Does anyone know how high of a spring rate these can handle?

These guys make 8 spokes in 16" or 17" in any width and backspacing you want.

Here's a question on the same thread.

Anyone got an idea where to find the cheapest 15 or 14 x 7 wheels? lol.

I have a crack in two of my wheels (The previous owner was a **** up) and I need to replace all 4. Best deal I've found so far is $787 for 4 Konig fast forward/rewind 15x7 plus 4 sumotomo HP wheels 205 60/15.

Anyone know a cheaper place? I'm runnin low on cash at the moment. I just need something that looks halfway decent and wont make my car rumble at 55-65 (No it's not balancing or alignment).

Thanks anyway, but these ones are fine at the moment. I need to buy new ones anyway. You can keep them ^^.

I just wonder if anyone knows of a better deal than $499 for 4 wheels without tires. And 787 with sumotomo hp tires?. If they're just wheels though I need them 14x7 to fit the current tires I have.

Well depending on how much your willing to spend I have a set of 15x7 konig rewinds and brand new tires on them. Wheels and tires have about 20 miles on them, if that. Tires are all mounted and balanced, ready to go.
