How to make $50 front coilovers
To start out these are temporary
i got the idea from https://www.zdriver.com/forums/280zx...ico-hps-31919/
i will install s13 when i can afford them
Well to start out i bought s13 coilover sleeves from ebay for $50 (set of 4)
and exhaust pipe
step 1: remove shock from strut tube
step 2: clean tube make sure you dont have shock fluid everywhere
step 3: cut the metal that holds the spring on the tube i used a plasma cutter then grind it smooth until the coilover sleeve can slide threw
step 4: sand away rust so you can have a surface to weld on
Step 5: slide exhaust pipe (i forgot the size but wide enough to hold the coilover sleeve) then the sleeve over it
Step 6: i taped the top of the coilover sleeve 3.5in down the tube and flipped it upside down so i could tig weld the bottom of exhaust pipe
Step 7: remove sleeve and continue to weld the exhaust pipe on the strut tube
Step 8: sand the rest of the tube and then paint
i have not installed them yet but my friend has these sleeve on his 240sx and says they ride pretty stiff
What do you guys think?
I also heard that a acura integra strut will fit the 280zx has anyone else herd about it?
