Euro suspension settings for 83 ZXT (2 + 2)
My car, as described above, needs new struts and springs. Since I prefer OEM balanced hardware, but tend to think the Japanese toned down the US spring/shock rates, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if indeed the European, Japanese or Australian 280ZXT's had firmer settings. A bonus would be as to where I might get such hardware!
Thanks

Susp. setup
Hi ,
you don't need to go the stiffer spring setup , you will only get a harsher ride , personaly I just hate that . The best suspension setup done on 280zx was on the 1981 turbo 2 seater . Nissan actually softened the spring rate , tightened the rear susp. bushing and used shocks with better rebound control to get a tighter ride without loosing comfort . Control is the game and you don't need harder spring to get it . On my 1980 2 seater , I changed the
front stabiliser bar for a bigger 2+2 one , changed the bars ( both ) bushings for 81 turbo one AND tightened them a lot more than normal . The manual say about 4 lb. of torque with a standard setup , that's not enought . Pack them with washer and get them really tight . You will be amazed by the difference and gain in control .
By the way , Nissan softened the turbo setup on 82 and 83 for a more marshmallo ride .

End of story
Well, as time tells some solutions, my car is in the shop, about to have new Koni semi-adjustable struts put on, along with Moog/TRW rear progressive/front normal springs. I'm hoping for slight improvements in the car's handling and ride, as it has to be better than 21 year old stock. My 2 + 2's rear end was sagging, even without passengers aboard!
Just for the record, Euro suspension parts from Motorsport are being discontinued, not to mention there was nothing else, apart from overpriced US Nissan replacement parts, that would work with a 2 + 2! Moreover, there WAS NEVER a Turbo 280 for sale in Europe or Japan, afaict, only the 2 + 2 was distributed in the UK (non-turbo), so there wasn't any compatible suspension bits from that model compatible with my 2 + 2 Turbo!
Cheers
