zx rearview mirror??
I've had issues filling cracks with bondo, cracks always seem to come back, even if you were to mound it up (which in turn looks like ****) if you do go that route use something along the lines of problem plastic first, its a 2 part epoxy that dries rock solid, start sanding it before its completely dry or else you might be there a while and end up with sore fingers. Then you can use glazing putty to get your smooth finish.
if i go that way, i'll just do it to my own mirror.
it just looks so bad and lots of other ones do too...i dont know why no one makes em. (that ive come across).
appreciate it tho, that is a good idea

Their website is zcarparts.com I didn't really want or have that money to do that. So I am going to fix mine and repaint it. My '81 has a red mirror, and my '82 has a silver mirror.

Theres also a semi-weld in the same packaging, yet doesn't dry solid. Not what you'd want.
Interior parts i'm not too savvy on repair ways. I can tell you the issue you'd have with this stuff right off the bat is the hassle you'd have trying to actually finish it off. I have seen it used on door panels, but it was used as a filler, someone had cut holes for tweaters and next owner decided against them. Something was still used to coat the problem plastic with so that texture could be applied to it. As far as a bonding stuff though, this works great, use it on torn bumpers all the time.
Theres a guy at work that does nothing but interior; I've been meaning to ask him how to go about fixing my dash in my 280zx as its cracked up. One of the cracks going right through the passenger speaker grille, I've seen him do some console repairs, hes able to blend in the texture pretty well. I'll ask him what he uses and get back to you on that one.

A Z32, eh IceIce? I'll have to try that one.
My mirror's pretty straight Castorall - haven't looked at it in awhile, it's been taken off as well as the rest of my interior. I'll check it out tomorrow and get back to you. Oh, it's faded silver/gray by the way, and to the best of my knowledge, it's straight with no cracks.

how would you recreate that leather like texture that's on the patched up spot if you filled in the crack

He said using the SEM Semi-Flex weld (which isn't porice at all and once finished should yield smooth results) fill the crack (I'm assuming after v-grooving the area) till its flat. And to obtain texture (This is where the old school thing came into play) he likes to use rocker panel spray/chip guard. And before the spray dries he takes these pads (maybe 2x2 in like a leather type of material) that are textured and blend in the area as well as possible. Then finish off with dye of your choice.
Sounds like more a trial and error process. But definately something to give it a go.
I'll post anything else he says; he was telling me about some Dash Putty too, but it'll crack under flex. Conversation got interrupted by Op's manager, so I'll have to finish that one later.
Hope this helped some.
