whale tail install
well its time to really install my whale tail properly. so how has everyone else done it? i really need to figure out the rear lip part. i dont want bolts sticking out the back like there is now, but i also dont want it to look very thick there. it would stick out very far past the quarters then, and look tacked on. anyone done this or have ideas? i posted at hybridz, hoping for something, but 1 person answered poorly, out of all those members. weird. i know the ppl on zdriver are better, so lets here it from ya!

well at least its something. the mating surfaces are the little downward facing lip on the very back of the hatch. and a similar one one the spoiler. sorry no pix right now, car isnt at the house.

i dont think 3m will be strong enough, the tail sticks out so far, you gotta kinda use it to open the hatch! ive thought of resin and perm. gluing it to the car. skully did a wicked job of attaching his, but hes busy in the fields, i snt him a myspace message, but who knows when he will get it

I know it's not the same but maybe it helps... On my Porsche the whale tail is held on from the inside with screws that go into the whale tail... are you talking about bolts sticking out on the bottom of that lip?

O.K pix i can work off of. see the little lip that hangs down. #1 pic, that is where there is no studs, and ice, yours looks to have no bolts there either, so i guess its just bonded onto your hatch. you guys are right with the studs into the top of the hatch, they work fine, and the tail is mounted, just wanted to make the back look better. ill get some pix of what i did, then what i did permenently. its hard to describe without dang pix.
