Turbo hood...

Turbo hood...
Hey, guys. How crucial is having the turbo hood on a turbo car? It seems like I've heard somewhere that z31 scoops will fit on the '79 and '80 non turbo hoods. Does anyone know if this is correct?
Someone backed a 4x4 Chevy into my car and crunched my hood pretty bad. I've found a non-turbo hood here in town and it's in great shape. If that will work without overheating the turbo or exhaust manifold I'll use it. Any info will be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Well...I've never heard of a turbo overheating because there wasn't a vent in the hood. Nissan removed the vent on the Z31's in...'86(?) I think. But, it never hurts to get a little more air circulating around the engine compartment. Especially around the turbo.

Exactly. I think it was overkill, but the turbo hoods look better in my opinion.
i think you should get the non-turbo hood, smooth over the right side vent, and mold in the Z31 hood scoop on the left side above the turbo. Paint it and it'll look great. That's sorta what I'm thinking of doing.
