A speedometer question ('83 280ZX)
I own an N/A 1983 280ZX with the digital dash gauges. I've read a lot about switching out the digital gauges for non-digital ones, and then swapping out the stock speedometer for a 120mph one, but I actually like the Digital Gauges a lot.
My question is this: Is there a way to uncap the limit that the digital speedometer reads (it appears that there would be room for a third digit in the screen)? I've browsed this and other forums regarding this issue, but everyone seems to be asking about swapping the digital gauges for non-digital.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't plan to drive the car over 85mph (except at the track every month or so), but it bothers me that the speedo caps at 85mph.

if I were you I would get a programer for your car and re-program the computer with this you will get better performance ans you should be able to change the limit of the digital gauges up to atleast 99MPH and if there is a third digit you could change it to a limitt of 999MPH not that you will ever go that fast but it is the limit that it could be programed to with a third digit

I don't know about the programer....never heard of that. If you look, there is a third digit. It's a 1. There is a button down on the lower right corner and it translates MPH to K/ph. Mine stops counting at 85 MPH, then flashes at an estimated 110.
