Mirror question

So the other week I removed the drivers side mirror off of my '83 to paint and install on my '79 since there were some parts broken off the outside edge of mine. I painted it, put it on, got in the car and then realized they were two different colors! My right mirror is clear, the new left one has a blue tint to it; has anyone heard of this on a Z? It freaked me out when I fisrt noticed it, and I still don't really like it, but it's better than the old one.

Also, how can I adjust the range of motion on this thing; it moves fine and moves as much as it should, but it seems like it's center is off (?) it won't go up as far as it should but will go down too far. Power mirror BTW.

Press on the mirror glass with your hand. Position it manually. That resets the "center" point.

The lens on the clear one has been replaced. Probably due to breakage. The blue tint is the original equipment, has an anti-glare coating that gives it the blue hue and is quite expensive to replace.

Your options are to replace the clear one with an original anti-glare blue tint for significant $$ and that assumes you can find one.

Otherwise, you could replace the blue one with a cheap clear replacement and have them match.

Personally, I would leave them as they are or try to get another blue one for your passenger side. I would want the anti-glare at least for the driver side mirror.

I've got another blue one for my passenger side, but both on my '79 were clear. I think the drivers door may have been replaced though, I'll take it apart to see if it has a nissan/datsun part number.

It's funny this came up... Last summer on a particularly hot SoCal day, I closed my drivers door and the mirror glass popped out and shattered on the ground. I went to the local wrecking yard and popped the first one I found and took it home to put on my car. When I next got in the car to drive it, low and behold... It was blue tinted. The passenger side was clear (probably already replaced with aftermarket I gussed). Anyway, I liked the blue tint so much, I went and got another one for the passenger side. Symetry once again restored... I can now see the kid in the riced out honda I just passed through blue shaded mirrors!

Cool Way to go show them who is boss

That's hysterical Rob! Show those wimps with the Civics who has the power and looksLOL I get tired of seeing those cars on the road. Everbody and their mother has one. I like to be different. THat is why Z and ZX owners are unique Later
