Center Console Removal

What is the best way to remove the center console of my 1983 280zx? (replacing shifter boot) Do I need to remove the radio housing?

i dont think you do...
open up the lid and there should be screws at the bottom and there should be screws under the 280zx sign at the front thats all i had on mine

yep just those 5 screws should do it
