Roof Scoop?
Alright J, Now that you are totally overloaded with ideas for carbon pieces for the 280ZX... Have you thought about maybe doing a roof mounted downforce inducer type deally like the ones in "Need 4 speed underground"? I think one of those done right would look really cool on our cars. You could make one that sits right inside the gap between the t-tops for cars so equipped or a wider one for non t-top cars. I just think it would give the car a really F1 type of look. Think about it. Not to get too ricey or anything, but I would like one.

actually the idea of a roof spoiler has been discussed in great length, i believe on hybridZ.org, and the general consensus has been that a 'spoiler' that follows the roofline and extends somewhere around 5" over the hatch would greatly reduce the lift on the back of the car by breaking up the airflow. so a spoiler that mounts flush on the top of the hatch and then extends back following the roofline wouldn't be such a bad idea

If I made some roof mounted scoops then all the Honda guys would have to sell their cars and buy Z's. That's all thats holding em back right? Lack of Ricyness, uh I mean flashiness
Rod, or anybody for that matter, could you send me or post up a pick of what your talking about. I haven't played N4S:UG so I don't have a visual.
I can never have too many ideas. Too many to make reality, sure. But just too many, Nah.

Uhhh, No. That's not what I meant.
Look at the screen shots below. What I'm talking about is the small roof mounted downforce inducer. It creates downforce closer to the centerline of the vehicle rather than just at the tail end of the car.

Yeah, but it's not like it's some kind of fake ram air scoop or anything... It has openings at the back that direct the flow of the air through it downward. It's a functional piece. It creates lateral stability and downforce over the centerline of the vehicle at the same time. It's not just some stupid cosmetic Ricer add on.

A little sculpting and I could work one of those up. Fiberglass or CF? What would be really sick is if you mounted a little video camera in the opening Hey, now that gives me an idea I'd have to put in a little research to figure out what kind of angles I'd be looking at in order to actually create any downforce with it though.

A roof mounted scoop-like-spoiler wouldn't do anything; it wouldn't have enough surface area to create any useful downforce or diffusion, assuming it even worked at all.
I would second being interested in a roof-extension-type spoiler pictured above.
