Ok, I'm trying to get power from an accesory that's always on even when there's no key in the ignition. Well the cigarette lighter doesn't seem to work period. So can anyone else point me to what I can connect the headunit to so I can save the settings of the clock and where I was last at.

 

if i remember its an all red wire.. but id get a light tester to verify that...

 

would the wire that goes to the always on power supply need to be connected across two wires from the car, or would one do?

 

Look at the back of the fuse block. There are two fat White wires coming into the fuse block. Any of the smaller wires coming out of those two white wires is a constant ON wire. So just splice off any one of those. The fat WB wire is ACC only, and the fat WL is IGN only.

And you only need one wire. The head unit should have a seperate ground wire.

 

all you need to do is just ap into it.. its just for your radio station presets and for the clock...

 

In my 82 I used a blue wire with a red stripe for the constant power for the radio memory

 

Thanks for the help guys. This was the last part to my new sound setup. Man the 2+2 has a good setup for rear speakers, but getting those panels off was a pain.

 

Are you putting a box in the rear of the 2+2 for subs? If so, my buddy and I experimented with several positions and placements and agreed on this setup being the loudest when it came to the bass output.
