I'm just kiddin' ya. Seriously though, the tire compound and sidewall construction have more effect on handling for street driven cars than size within 2 or 3 widths. I would do 205's all around. Unfortunately, 14" tires are starting to evaporate and there's only a few decent models in that size anymore. I would actually upgrade to 15's and run 205/50/15's. Honda Civic size tires will be around for a LONG time and there's a crapload of offerings in that size. A quick look on TireRack.com shows 34 different tires in that size starting at $49ea. up to $205ea. plus a bunch of DOT-R versions... 
Nitto NT-01's (205/55/14 = $139ea @ www.americastire.com) are turning out to take a hell of a lot of punishment on the street and they have been through about 5 or 6 track days at Laguna Seca, Thunderhill and Infineon/Sears Point and still have at least another day left in 'em which I'll use up at Button Willow Oct. 3rd.
4 or 5 companies? Just off the top of my head, Goodyear, BFGoodrich, Bridgestone, Firestone, Yokohama, Nitto, Kumho, Hankook, Pirelli, Continental, Dunlop, General, Michelin, Sumitomo and Uniroyal all have their own manufacturing facilities... so I'm not sure which 4 or 5 you're referring too.

yeaa im thinkin im goin 15x8 next time around, i just got the 6 spokes for 120bucks after i had a blowout on the steelies....but i also like that fat tire stance....i just need to get the motor to where it needs it turbo project shootin for 350ish on about 5k budget doesnt look too bad especially for these cars....i mean ive had an old 90' ford probe gt (2.2L turbo) that put out about 250 but it weighed about 2600 so 330 in even a z should go preettyy good and id get to have fun with the rustangs, 3fitties, srt-****** and a few others so im stoked, after college tho, 2 years and counting
