I have a 76 280z and I believe I need a new water temp switch. It is located on the thermostat housing in the top right and has one wire. This is not the water temp sensor which has 2 wires and a fuel injector style connector. I also have lone red wire in the bundle of wire for other sensors. My question is: does this loose wire go to the water temp switch, which at the moment has no wire (I think it was cut very close), and would this senario cause the engine to run bad (coughing, sputtering) when it is warm? Thanks for any input
