Tell me what you think..im new :-)
HI everybody, I'm glad i found a place i can come to for my Z questions. a brief history about myself and my newly aquired ZX :
I'm 24 and live in South Dakota, just a week or so we went and bought a 1979 280ZX from the original owner. It has 83k miles and has been sitting in his parents farm barn covered up for the last 11 years in which it hasn't been driven AT ALL.
As you know, 79 was the first year the ZX was introduced and after examination i found out that my particular car was manufactured in Nov. of 78, making it one of the FIRST to hit the market.
I paid a wooping $500 dollars for it and the poor gentleman i bought it from was pretty depressed to part with it, again he was the original owner and his father told him he was INSANE for buying it way back in '79. It sold for approx 13k brand new.
The hood is grey and the rest of the body is a semi light shade of blue.
There is hardly ANY rust to speak of but moisture must've gotten under the hood and caused the paint on the hood to crack.
The motor seems to be missing a little and it kinda dogs down but im sure it needs some TLC and all new crap ( spark plugs, hoses, etc).
The only thing i can tell that's missing on the body is the front pass. yellow light imbeaded in the front bumper.
My plans are to preserve as much of its originality but at the same time i want to tastfully sport it out and "modernize" it.
Any suggestions on a "course of action"? I was thinking logically that i should make sure the darn thing purrs like a kitty before i worry about what it looks like.
