T5 with what diff?
I have a 3.90 R200 and a 4.11 R200. For my turbo with a T5, which would you recommend and why? I intend to use the car mostly for the street, occassionally on the highway and drag strip/road track.
BTW I like the board --- to get posts you gotta post I suppose, so here goes.

Re: T5 with what diff?
Keep in mind that the 1981-83 non turbo Z's use those 3.9 diffs stock. If you use a 3.9 with your T-5 you'll have lower 1st through 3rd gear for good acceleration and still have the same 4th and 5th gear as a 280zx for cruising on the highway at lower rpms.
I used a 4.11 in a daily driver and it seemed good on the highway too. So I would go with the 4.11 rear.

Re: Low GearZ
Yeah right! you know better than that! I have a 3.54 and a 3.7 which I'm swapping in the near future to give my car a little more get up and go... I"m nowhere near that low a ratio!

Re: T5 with what diff?
Hey -- I am in Denver. I'm keeping an eye out for a good shipping container though, as these 4.11 R200s seem to be in demand. At the moment I have access to the packing foam and all that, so I should be able to ship it safely anywhere, the only thing would be the shipping cost.

Re: T5 with what diff?
The T5 gear ratios are: 3.5, 2.144, 1.375, 1, 0.78. Very low first gear, steep fith gear. Most people would say 3.9 for the street, 4.11 for the track. With a 4.11 your final drive is 3.2, taller than a stock 240Z's ratio of 3.364. So for all of the hard work; go for performance!
