Suspension work....
What tools do I need and how hard is it to change out the suspension of a 260. I am going to be chaning springs, shocks and struts, probably going with eibach springs and tokico struts, but i am still considering coil overs, any suggestions/experiences/preferences. the car is going to be a daily driver, 80 mile round trip.
thanks for the help, getting my z back next tues will post new pics, check out the before pics.

Done mine. Found it relatively easy. If you have a decent set of spanners you should too. I changed my std springs to lowered and changed the struts while I was at it. Shortened 2 inches to retain springs captive.Had no dramas really, only I advise you to get a good set of spring compressors.
1-remove sway bar links-drop sway bar
2-remove disc and move to the side(hang with wire)remove (CUT OFF)tiny metal peice that holds middle brake hose join--u clip can still be used to hold.
3-LOOSEN ONLY strut big nut.(top centre)
4-Unscrew struts from top--- 3 screws.
5-Drop strut and push down and out (to work on)
6-Support (with mate if possible)
7-Compress the spring.
8-Remove top nut.
9-Remove spring hat and spring.
10-Remove 'o' shaped nut that holds in absorber.
11-Replace and reverse whole proceedure.
12- Replace rubber O ring on top of strut before screwing up O nut.

don't get the compressors from MSA - they rip you off on those. They charge $30 for a pair of compressors you can buy from www.harborfreight.com (harbor freight tools) for $10 (per pair). I should know, I made that mistake - they're the exact same make and model number. Here's the link:

If you're planning on doing coilovers, be sure to select the right spring rate. I am running a combo of ground control coilovers with 200lb/in springs and tokiko 5 way struts. At level setting 3 on tokikos, daily driving is almost unbearable. For more practical application, i'd recomment 150 front 175 lb rear springs. Also, for coilover install, you'll need to grind off the lower spring perches and weld in coilover rings that hold the sleeves. If you're interested, I kept a photo log of what I've done with my suspension, you can see it here:

Re: Suspension work....
thanks for the info. i am probably going with springs, i heard eibach's are really stiff for everyday driving and i am going to be driving the car 80 miles a day. would tokico springs be better? i want it significantly stiffer but not unbearable.
thanks,
