Strut Brace
 

Can front strut braces be installed on a 79 zx? I've seen a lot of installations on z's throughout this site, and I thought I could fabricate my own, but when I tried to pre-fit a piece of 3/4" square tube across the towers I couldn't close the hood.
I don't want to notch the inside of the hood, and it looks like I would be defeating the purpose of the brace if I had to put bends in it. What's the solution?

Make rings that go around the bolt pattern and drill them to fit. Then weld your brace onto the bottom inside edge.

You could also use a stock front sway bar by attaching plate ends to bolt up to your strut.
