Status update, need opinions

As some of you know, I was in an accident a year ago, and my Z sustained front end damage. I decided today to take better detailed pictures of the damage, and wanted to see what kind of opinions, tips, etc, that anyone may have for me.

I want to fix the Z, it's my first car, my dad gave it to me, and I'm in love with Z's because of it. I don't have the cash now, but with my new job with Firedog at Circuit City, I'm making a good amount and should be able to get up enough money to fix her.

I know it needs body work, but my girlfriend's neighbor does body work for a living, and said he'd help me fix all of the rust and get the dents out of the body, as well as teach me along the way.

The pictures show most of the damage, but I'll give a brief list of all that needs to be fixed. The front driver's side is tweaked, because when the girl and I collided, the bumper support shoved the fender support (I think that's the word) outward and shoved the radiator support backwards. This caused the fender to buckle outward on the driver's side. I've got rust, but the pictures can explain that. I do have the typical rust under the battery, which has become approximately four inches in diameter. I need to replace the floorboards in the car; the driver's side has a hole in it (which might be worth fixing) and the passenger side is dented horribly on the underside due to the previous owner. I was planning on getting the replacement floorboards from Charlie Osbourne at Zedd Findings, along with the frame rail replacements. I was rear ended a while ago, so I also need to replace the lower valence in the rear. I also noticed some rust under the driver's side wheel well, right above the frame rail, next to the suspension control arm (I believe it's called). I was also quoted $500 to straighten the front end damage, but I might see if I can do it myself. I'll have to remove some stuff to get to it though.

I do have a replacement hood, replacement fender, replacement headlight buckets, replacement front valence (but needs a little bit of tlc) and turn signal holder, and I plan on going down to Pick N Pull with a sawzall and getting some replacement metal for the battery tray and the rear valence.

Here's the opinion part: Do I fix it, or do I sell it and try to find another Z? I think it's in saveable condition, and I can get the rust and dent repair done for free, while I learn. I was also contemplating buying an air dam, but I can't decide if I want to get one or not. I want one, but I'm afraid of smacking it against a curb or a speedbump, or even dragging it on the ground when I leave a driveway. This is the one that I had my eye on: Click here. I was also considering the bre style air dam, but I'd have to fix the lower valence in order to use it, so I'm not sure what I want to do yet.

So what do you think?

More pictures on post below. Oh, the car is dirty and wet from the water hose in the pictures.

that does not look that bad at all. A new ice cream scoop for the light and a airdam sould make it look much nicer.

That's totally fix-able. Mine was worse than that and came out great. Go for the repairs, especially since the car has specific value to you (first car, from your Dad, etc.).
good luck,
Dave
