Should I buy this fairlady z 280z? Rhd

The ad is

1978 280 fairlady Z imported from Japan. (Original Jap Vin plates still there) This car does have a clean non highway title, however we didn't have a problem getting tags when we had it.
Was restored about a decade or more ago, will need overhaul or used as a parts car. 5 Speed like 80K miles. ONLY serious buyers please. If this car isn't bought in the next 14 days it goes to the crusher on Nov 31st!
Does not start, NOT SIEZED or locked up. Tranny and motor roll
Have owned this in the family for about 15 years, need to get rid of her ASAP!!!!

I talked to them and they said it needs a battery and starter. And it turns over but not start... That doesn't make sense to me if he says in the ad it needs an overhaul. He says compression is fine and moto and tranny are good. Says there's undercarriage rust and around the wheel but most the body in great shape. If the starter is Out couldn't I just roll start it and pop it in gear? Rey want 1500 for it... Good deal???

If it cranks but doesn't start you are ahead of the game. You at least know the engine isn't seized, getting it too start won't be hard trust me, my 78 280Z hadn't run in 4 years when I brought her home, I got her fired up after about a week of working on it. The plug wires could be mixed up (very common mistake people make on the L28s since the firing order is different then the L24s), battery or alt could have a bad connection or be dead, or my #1 guess would be the ignition fusible link!

If the rust is just rust and not rot, I say talk them down stupid low (since they claim it will be going to the crusher), go see them with 500$ cash (bring like 800$ just in case) and see what they say. Pics would help though.

yeah i was going to talk them down super low anyway but didn't know if it would be a tough one to fix or not. they said dash is crack and headliner is crud. and its also the 2+2. and im also worried about the titling even though they said that they titled it no problem it's just hard to believe

It's over 25 years old, you shouldn't have too much of a problem getting a title for it. It's a 2+2 though? Ewww. Cracked dash and crappy headliner are S30 staples!!!
