shifter questions.
Question: Is there any advantages/disadvantages to using the shifter lever from a 1972 4spd in a 1983 5spd?
I put in an 83 5spd but I used the lever from the 4spd...I think? I still have the 5spd lever and now I'm wondering if it gives shorter throws than the other.
BTW no REAL problems with the shifter dropping out of gears. 3rd and 5th seemed to pop out now and then. I installed a new tranny boot and figured the boot was the problem. A little electrical tape on the boot to the shifter cured the problem.
