Just woundering from WHAT MONTH and YEAR to What month and year are the "EARLY Z, ONE series" ?

suposdly the are ___ pounds lighter and have the grills on the trunk and the 240z rear quarter panel emblem. IF they are lighter WHY are they lighter and how many pounds are they lighter

 

Less steel in the whole car. No inner fender in the quarter panels etc. I think they are like 2245 lbs. Have'nt weighed mine but I have a R200 and 5 speed with lighter wheels and tires so it's about that much I guess.

 

More emissions junk added in the later ones, stricter crash requirements in the later ones (starting in '74 mostly), and so on. The series 1 cars are about 200lbs lighter. The production dates are a topic of debate, do a bit of research on zhome and classiczcars and you should find plenty of reading material on all this and other topics such as the differences between the series 1 cars and the later ones.
