Re: RB20DET vs V8
the vt vx ar the new commodores 98+... they are injected... but can be carbed... they are Ls1 engine...
i've been looking in the trading post lately and have been talking to some chevy enthusiats.. and i belive that a 350 will be more than anough in a 240z....
maybe look in the tradng post for rebuilt 350s with work done to them... you dont want to buy a stock 350... even thou it will putpower a 240z... in the long run you will long for more power even if it is a daily driver...
but once again up to you...
there is some people at hybridz.org one of the lones that have a LS1 carbed... fuel injection would be the better way to go in the long run but carbed is good for a start.... a LS1 from a VX SS or VT SS from the wreckers would cost around 6000, thats me guessing.... but you can get a good worked 350 for around 3-4000 that is fulll rebuilt that someone is trying to sell.. i'm aiming for the 350 - 400 hp mark when i drop a 350 intO my Z when i get some money flowing...
its up you on the engine options.. maybe just stick with the L series for a bit untill you want more power....

Re: RB20DET vs V8
i agree.... the rb20det in aus is the best way to go for moderatly cheap power, but of corse its up to you again...
stick with the L series for a couple years... do suspension mods, body mods... then when u got some $$... make ur dream car...
thats what i am planning on doing...
