Re: R160 - LSD?
All R series diffs (R160, R180, R190, R200, R230) (the last one could be R220 - not sure) can be open, or LSD.
For a Z go the R200 LSD if you can get hold of one - in AUS they weren't used in any 300's which sux. Else Nismo sells LSD's for all models & you can get Quaiffe worm-drive LSD's for the R180 (early only?) & R200's (late only?).
[wishlist]
I will be getting a R180 Quaiffe one day.....

Re: R160 - LSD?
The LSD R160 came in turbo Suburus? Anyone have any model or year info? I would think they would be easier and cheaper to get than the 3.7:1 LSD's out of 300ZX's

`81 280ZX GL
`85 300ZX Turbo
`87 Toyota Supra Turbo

Re: R160 - LSD?
There was a long thread on the IZCC mailling list regarding this & from memory the only definates were:
_Some_ AWD Subaru's had them (it was an option)
(The RX turbo's fit into the above category)
All Subaru-fitted LSD's have a metal tag stating the unit is LSD.
I do not know if the R160 LSD used in the WRX is compatible or not. I do know that it is a viscous unit & is therefore not the most desirable type of LSD for hi-po use.
And now for some trivia:
Subaru uses the Fuji Heavy Industries differentials because they are _owned_ by Fuji Heavy Industries....

Re: R160 - LSD?
This is a common swap into a 510 Here is the best page I have found on the subject. I have come to the conclusion that that is was a seldom purchused option in Canada. I have crawled under at least 100 cars looking for the foil sticker.

Re: R160 - LSD?
Yah I'm still looking for a Subura LSD for my 510 Actually funny thing is I know someone who put a R160 in a Z. I don't really recommend it, cause in a way its kinda like downgrading in strengh of the diff. But you can have fun for awhile lol. The great thing about subura differentials, if you look at their diff's they all have stickers with what gear ratios they are, and they will also say LSD if they are one! Now why didn't Nissan do this for all the Z Diff's and tranny's eh?
